my main attraction towards anything (clothing, technology, cuisine) is aesthetic. long before i got my iPhone, i had carefully planned the tech accessories and style that would pair with it.

the vintage leather back is by Valentine Goods, a New York City start-up. it simply sticks on and effortless peels off without any harm to the phone's glass. i think it adds a truly smart, chic statement. i purchased the tory burch leather media sleeve this summer in Palm Beach. the vibrant red brings a pop!, making it easy to spot in the bottom of my tote.

digitally, i save art and graphics from the web to utilize as wallpaper. caitlin mcgauley's watercolors and scalamandre prints work perfectly! additionally, i cannot believe the camera. the image quality is impeccable and often rivals my SLR.

i am enamored with nail polish; my bathroom shelves resemble what might appear to be an essie showroom. while i typically paint my own, every so often (when the occasion calls) i will head down to the airy tribeca loft known as tenOverten nails. a co-worker had recommended tenOverten when i first moved to new york and it has remained my go-to.

detail-oriented doesn't truly describe tenOverten. from the polish wall (housing Chanel, NARS, essie, + RGB shades) and built in iPads at each station to the hot tea/espresso served and hospitable (not to mention super chic) owners, i adore every element of the experience. for my birthday, i treated myself to a pedicure and a half-moon manicure- done perfectly ! Chanel Inattendu was used for the moon and RGB Deep was applied as the bottom darker color. However, I think OPI's "Lincoln Park After Dark" and "Malaysian Mist" would be perfectly suitable duplicates.

yesterday, i paid a visit to The Meadow, a real treasure in my West Village neighborhood. they specialize in three items (all of which are regarded to me as 'essentials'): imported specialty sea salts, gourmet artisan chocolates, and fresh pick-you-own bouquet flower stems. i've posted about this shop before--i truly adore it.

above is a little arrangement of ranunculus and snapdragons (accidentally burned by candlelight, oops!) that i picked up while re-stocking on some tried, true, and new sea salt varieties. the petite vase is sitting by desk, along with the November j.crew catalogue and a beautiful amethyst print by Love All Around, for some color.

when i first moved to the west village, i had no idea Hudson Street existed. ignorant, i know. but after a day of meandering around, i found The Meadow, an artisan boutique specializing in three distinct products: gourmet single origin chocolate, beautifully curated flowers, and imported fine sea salts. ding ding ding, three of my favorite things.

if you know me well at all, i put sea salt on everything (pink lady apples in particular). i finally purchased some from The Meadow: a finely ground pink himalayan and a flaky white. i have to say, the little glass jars with cork toppers are an added incentive to the purchase. regardless; so, so pleased. the actual shoppe is so fresh and lovely. highly recommend !

i tend to dress in a very simple manner. a few years ago, i would gravitate towards anything with a minimum of 5 colors and a vintage or geometric pattern. consequently, i now have bags filled with a clown-like collection of clothing (exaggeration) ready for give-away. as i transitioned into "collecting the classics", i've found this: packing for a trip, dressing for the day, and choosing an outfit last minute is equally as simple as the pieces themselves.

this installment of posts will highlight my wardrobe essentials. first, the oxford shirt. it goes without saying! worn with gently distressed jeans or a full length taffeta skirt- can you imagine? dressed up or down: collar stiff or relaxed; sleeves rolled up to the elbow or buttoned at the wrist. my favorite is from j.crew: "the boy shirt".

i am so glad to announce that my camera's lens is working properly again ! i'm really kind of clueless; it was so simple to fix- with the help of a true pro-photog that i'm lucky to learn from. admittedly, it felt so unfamiliar to take photos so i apologize if these just aren't the best or most inspired. who knew one week without your "eye" could feel so long?

while i was living at home, my desk was in storage and i barely had a work area that was adequate enough to feel productive. since moving, i've set up a nice station but find that i still stand at a counter with my laptop...odd, i know. i suppose i got used to chair-less, desk-less "offices". however, i still like that i now have a place to put writing implements (marc jacobs colored pencils, anyone?), business cards (elizabeth bauer has an amazing store on Greenwhich Ave- she's an interior designer), and work on art projects. it also serves as a "breakfast nook", seeing that i don't have a proper kitchen table. but, that makes it more colorful i suppose.

this weekend, my friend emilie and i ventured down to tribeca to see CFDA {FASHION INCUBATOR} designer Tom Scott's Pop-Up Store. Tom designs supple, soft, hand-crafted sweaters and knitwear that I happen to simply adore. The shop is open until March 27th, from 12-7pm (Wednesday-Sunday), so if you're in New York- definitely check it out. The shop itself is beautiful and Tom's neon + neutral designs popped (no pun intended) in the clean, white space.

the fun part of moving in to a new place? decorating, of course. when i was a child, i wanted to be an interior designer, so furnishing/styling a room feels natural to me. i'm by no means an expert, but i do know exactly what i like and want, which i think is vital to making a house, apartment, or room feel like home.

fortunately, i've lived in an unfurnished apartment before (let's not discuss how much bigger it was!), so i had all the elements (sofa, desk, chairs, armoir, decor, etc) ready to be placed in this abode. a large white sofa and all black pieces were chosen, almost three years ago, because i knew they'd be the perfect blank canvas for accessorizing with various colors, dependent on the season & my mood. i think it's apparent that i'm currently having a blue moment.

everything is either thrifted, re-purposed, or from target/ikea/tjmaxx/anthropologie. what i'm trying to say is- you don't have to shop at expensive boutiques or antique stores to replicate designer rooms. in fact, the swan & brocade chair, pictured above, was found on the side of the road!

normally, i'd experience mild guilt about delighting in the above pleasures: fresh flowers, parisian candles, blueberries out of the clam-shell, and store-bought espresso instead of home brewed. conveniently, i have excuses for each and every one!

the diptyque candle is something i'd never purchase for myself- it was bought with a generous gift card to Barneys, bestowed upon me from my internship over christmas. the blueberries and the Americano (standard breakfast fare) were before i had my coffee pot and dishes unpacked. the flowers are just because. however, they all make for good photos, no?

after settling in for a few days, i finally got outside to snap some photos of my new neighborhood. i am anxiously awaiting spring, like i'm sure everyone is. however, i couldn't help but notice that the west village is already in bloom, whether through color (as seen above), smell (magnolia bakery, need i say more?), or sound (bikes + birds).

here is just a micro glimpse of new york fashion week through my lens. this season was far more diverse for me; i went to multiple shows instead of working with one designer. the beauty of that? i witnessed a broader scope of the season to come. i am a pattern-seeking individual, so taking note of similarities and trends in person was true fashion stimulation.

the above photos pull from three designers. prabal gurung, chris benz, and bibhu mohapatra were visual delights, with very different collections and formats of show. i tend to fixate on small details, colors, and atmosphere when photographing, so being backstage feels natural to me. however, the non-traditional presentation style of bibhu and chris benz's show lends itself beautifully to experiencing the clothes up-close. contrastingly, prabal's show was kinetic and Industry-star studded, so I'm thankful I got to go behind the scenes beforehand.

i love design blogs: they are typically my #1 resource for fresh ideas. it's a bonus when the items they feature are a) affordable and b) accessible. which leads me to this: the "a line a day" journal by PAPERSOURCE. i was tipped off by this post on Creature Comforts.

the concept is practically perfect for a keepsake-loving, neurotically nostalgic, obsessed-with-memories lady like myself. essentially, you jot down one or two eventful (or not-so-eventful) lines at the end of each day. there are 365 pages, and five slots on each page for 2011 through 2015. a few weeks back, i started doing this on my own... but i can't pass up a book that helps me maintain my Type-A personality and look chic at the same time!

the book itself is both stunning and impeccably crafted: sturdy binding, delicately gold-leafed pages, and hard-covered in Tiffany blue. i highly recommend penning your lines either at the end of the day with a mug of peppermint tea- or early in the morning with a glass of h20 + lime wedge (i live in a dream world if it isn't apparent enough. & i also cut a severe wound into my finger for the sake of said lime wedge...!)

although i was in the florida warmth only briefly, i tried to soak as much up as i could! i hope it translates through these photos. my hotel was connected to the International Plaza shopping promenade, so i spent the entire day browsing/snapping photos/talking/meandering while my dad worked at his office. the one take away: people in warm weathered states are incomparably NICER and friendlier than people in cold locales. i "coffee talked" with every person i came into contact with. plus, the coffee/biscotti gelato, palm trees, vibrant colors, blueberry sea salted pancakes, and all of my favorite stores can't hurt.

this week, i was all set for a three day trip to the Sunshine State with my dad. unfortunately, the very reason we wanted to get away was the same reason that obstructed our plans-snow! like much of the north east, i'm buried under the aftermath of a(nother) blizzard. delayed is better than canceled, right? next week it is.

pictured above are some (vintage) travel essentials. at first, i "borrowed" the crocodile trunk from my mom, simply to photograph. out of curiosity, i opened it to find super-kitschy Coppertone sunscreen, Wash'n'Dri towelettes, and a fun pill container. such a playful surprise. they go perfectly with my tortoise travel toothbrush, tiffany ring sachet, frame-less glasses (just for decoration), and j.crew barrette.

i'll preface this post by saying: i think almost exclusively in color. for clothing, i live in neutrals punctuated with a bold hue or two. my winter shade of choice has been camel (like many others). even though i've just started accumulating my essentials for the spring season, i'm fairly certain that NUDE will act as the color foundation.

opposed to camel, i can't wait to wear a more mauve-y, cool beige. above are some new NUDE pieces that i've acquired... (PS- if it's patent or sheer, bonus)

oh dear..

it's been almost a month that i've knowingly avoided this here blog. i even surpassed it's 2nd birthday without a second thought. my (former) schedule made it nearly impossible to take photos during daylight (which are typically the centerpiece of my posts) or engage in anything remotely related to my interests. in turn, i've also been slightly drained in terms of creativity.

which is why i've vastly reconfigured my life (new job, new internship, helloooo days off!) to accommodate a better balance. i will still be busy busy busy, the way i like it, but with more time in between, more diversity to my days + weeks, and all the more suited to >> me!

i love mostly everything about fall. the weather, the smell (autumn has such a specific fragrance about it, wouldn't you say? especially it's brisk early morning air), the holidays, the clothing (obviously), the festivities, the seasonal foods. actually, as i'm typing this, i'm baking a buttercup squash in the oven. "what is that amazing smell?" my family is asking.

more over, there's an inescapable nostalgia about autumn; there's a sadness about fall. i can't explain why.

so, after what felt like a fashion whirlwind of swooshing fabric and the beautiful people and mostly finer things in life, i have resurfaced. slowly but surely. new york fashion week (s/s 2011) was nearly two weeks ago, and since then, london and milano have now presented. i'm fashionably late i suppose when it comes to posting photos.

i think that words or textual recounts or descriptions will tarnish the images. i hope you can jump into the photos and imagine what it'd be like to be there, because it was pretty damn fabulous, if i may.

i have a confession. i bought six bottles of nail polish in the span of 14 hours this weekend.

my sister and i have a bordering-on-psychotic obsession with the many brands, shades, and styles of lacquer. while she tends to go for light, dainty colors, i prefer to play with bold hues or deeply dark digits. my go to, however, is OPI's The Thrill of Brazil, a bluish red. between the two of us, we have the entire spectrum.

this weekend i decided to take summer for a spin one last time, via my nails. essie's 2010 resort collection: Turquoise & Cacos and Lapis of Luxury. Matte About You topcoat--this is a must-get. it will change your life!

although this is not me at all, i think the color itself is brilliant. however, i am itching to get my red, super glossy nails back in time for the weekend!

although the forecast is calling for a record high temps today, it's officially september. august was gone in a flash--does anyone agree? regardless, i feel it's now appropriate to bring in the autumn luxuries.

i'm keen on high contrast this season: strikingly rich colors with faded neutrals, ultra-luxe details complimenting perfectly rugged pieces, and the boyish paired with coquettish.

tribal/ethnic paired with diamond-encrusted. i just can't get over it! thankfully, i already have many extravagant bangles and cuffs; now i just need to find some cheap friendship bracelets to layer in-between. i used to wear the ties from Tiffany & Co. satchels around my wrist...my parents weren't too pleased that I was wearing the packaging instead of the actual jewelry. go figure.

the holy september issue.

what could possibly be a voluminously thick 726 pages, cost a mere $4.99, and yet hold the most valuable Fashion insight for the upcoming months? only vogue's iconic september issue. on tuesday, NY and LA newstands were Graced with the opulence that is, after all, the issue which inspired a documentary based on it's existence.

it's pink (uncomfortably pink im my opinion) but Halle is diamond-studded in every corner possible. i've been leafing through it with my coffee each morning before work...i'm 213 pages deep and i haven't hit a non-advertisement page yet. that's what i call a september issue.

surely i'll report back on my thoughts...it may take a while though!

as chance may have it, i some how ran into christian siriano, the fierce, fabulous, and flawless winner of project runway season 4, on 8th avenue this tuesday. i've never "bumped" into a celebrity before, and i was glad that this super-ferosh fashion star was my first brush with fame.

christian was ultra nice and was only about an inch taller than me {and i'm only 5 foot}. love! maybe he was at mood, right near my office, pulling fabric for his spring 2011 collection?

ironicically, project runway's new season premieres tonight! i haven't watched since it made it's move to the Lifetime network, but maybe that'll change now.

i've always had a hard time with "relaxing" on the weekends. i know this contradicts the essence of these two precious days-off, but even still i can't just lounge. and yet, i'm often too worn out from the work week to do anything that outrageous. that being said, here were my weekend adventures.

1. j.crew sale scavengering
found some new prints for my last summer shop- watercolor and illustrated floral. wearable art.

2. wall coverings

i've had a huge, blank wall in my bedroom for 6 years. i finally put up the french memo boards my mom upholstered & used tiffany & co. boxes as decor!

3. clippings & scraps
i finally went through my towering stack of magazines and catalogs. i love finding the perfect quote amongst the pages of often superficial print.

4. jewel box
finally made time to get to Whole Foods, with my dad. boxed apricots are such a treat. they are my favorite stone fruit, hands down!

5. drawing a blank
along with going through old mags, i felt the need to lay out some collage work. the phrase "the jet set" has stuck with me since i was about 12 (i know, i was a bit strange even then). how perfect to find it in an H&M catalog. and who doesn't love jackie and audrey?

6. looking back;
it was a great weekend! almost august? no. way.

i am often fascinated by looking back at the week's snapped photos; noticing patterns and themes and trends. how can it be that i'm in different places, thinking different things, yet capturing similar colors, elements, and patterns? i don't plan this! it just is something subconscious, i suppose..

these photos include: weekend reading materials (stacked and studied), a visit to tribeca (highly fabulous), a rainy day moment that looks photoshopped (it's not) and provides famously good advice (keep calm), a wonderfully worn-in vintage lacoste baby tee (it fits perfectly), and a similarly colored bike (basket and all).

maybe the common thread sewn throughout these shots is only on my radar because my eye took them. can you see the cohesion?

while i have and always will love traditional mediums of art (fashion illustration was my first pen-swoosh of inspiration in 1st grade), i find the glue, scissors, and cluttered nature of such projects to be quite restrictive. visionboards + collages are quintessential to cultivate my inspiration, but when it comes down to it: i simply love playing with clothes.

all you really need is your own collection of dress-up desirables. i like to lay a menagerie of pieces--all kinds of textures and trinkets--to create a collaged feel. no need for glue. this allows for the freedom to edit endlessly! to make it more "fixed", take a photo, as i have (it doesn't need to be a fancy camera--turn your flash off and the contrast up!). . .

ROYAL blue accessories paired with magazine tears

POSTCARDS and catalog pulls, pinned on a silk-covered bulletin board.

DISCO drenched in sequins, and of course--Heatherette//MAC packaging.

Each fashion still life tells a story and has a girl behind the items she's left behind (was the CHANEL above, the pieces she left in her Parisian hotel during fashionweek? or the DISCO studio54 glamazon's vanity table?). To me, creating these couture-obsessed ladies and a snapshot of their fairy tale of fashion is what inspires me to dress and design the way i do.

perhaps it's my unrestrained clamoring for the fall season to arrive, but i've noticed my current attraction towards sunny shades of neutral. i've always loved affectionately worn-in honey-brown leather and ever-polished tortoise accessories. here's a glimpse of some favorites!

i think one of the {many }reasons i like being in a city is because it's essentially just an endless communal canvas. everything is painted, printed, patterned. and it all fits together seamlessly, somehow. while some may dismiss the mass advertisements and graffiti signage as visual stress-inducing clutter, it actually represents how my mind looks anyway.

these images range from various cities and neighborhoods. some, shot in philadelphia, others in new york: 5th avenue, Williamsburg in brooklyn, soho. the rest in san francisco: union square, the mission, haight ashbury (those credited to my brother).

beach blanket.

i'll admit, my mind is quickly tapping fast-forward in an unusually-impatient manner. it's main concern? the upcoming season of fashion--fall. i'm an autumn lady, through and through (born in early november, to boot). while summer is nice to think about, when it actually arrives it seems to be nothing more than humidity and even-more-than-usual cliched trends (exposing even-more-than-normal skin of those i'd rather not be subjected to).

however, because i am devoted believer in a fashion dream; dedicated to the idea that clothing and visual aesthetic and style create our story, i will play along with this concept of summer. to the beach we go! (this is make-believe remember? i'm in new york city working 24/7...plus i don't do wind or water).

1. kiehl's face moisturizer with SPF; this is super sheer but still protective against the sun 2. tory burch tortoise cosmetics case; waterproof (or so it seems) and will keep your kiehl's sand free 3. an endless pint of New Jersey blueberries, please 4. a vintage polaroid camera to capture the breezy surroundings; i don't need a book! 5. j.crew mix and match swimwear; they make the best, most-long lasting bathing suites. promise. i've had mine for years! 6. anthropologie throw; it would make a great beach blanket / backdrop against the sand for some fun photos.

...and despite my so-called "high maintenance induced" resistance to the ocean, you can see from many summers spent there, i always smile when i'm in the sun. oh, and did i have the leg-pop-pose down solid as a little girl, or what?

over the past few months, i've become enamored with gems, crystals, and precious stones--even just sketches of these rare baubles. while i covet many trinkets + gems that i find (like this or this, for instance), sometimes i prefer to DIY.

my mom introduced me to the bejeweled world of jewelry-making as soon as i was old enough to string together a simple bracelet! over the years, we've continued to design and assemble our own statement pieces. although a hobby that is typically exercised when we have ample free time, it's something we always come back to.

recently, i stumbled upon some gorgeous Druzy quartz at BeadWorks in Philadelphia. i knew i wanted to take advantage of hand-picking my stones, and that i did. i plan on producing a small line of jewelry- the excitement is unbearable! if only i could get some free time.

recently, i've been immensely inspired by italian street style, and more specifically, the impeccably dressed vogue nippon ladies. maybe it's my longing for a Mediterranean getaway, or perhaps my own ethnic roots are finally making sense. regardless, the unrestrained yet precisely polish fashion luminaries of italy just do it for me.

i've never been one to embrace or feel any kind of connection to my ethnicity or background [italian, irish, german, lithuanian]. i have the simplest, most nationality-neutral first and last names in the book [amy stone]. and i've always liked it that way. but now, hmmm, yes--i'm definitely italian!

not to mention, these iconic italians kind of make me love my dark hair (for once), encourage me to keep super tan, break out the Pucci scarf i had been gifted 3 years ago, and wear my most electric of yellows.

this weekend was really lovely. i didn't do anything that exciting, yet it still was more enjoyable than previous ones. i typically spend a lot of time in my bedroom in the morning hours of saturday and sunday: digging through my closet and collections to uncover the forgotten. it's not an alternative to shopping, however, it comes close.

enter this beat-up purse [do we see a pattern here? i don't find the most pristine second-hand goods. i like it that way.] by etienne aigner. it's the perfect neutral-sandy-80's-leather color and i adore the shape.

i also treated myself to the above effervescent, shock-shaded manicure: Essie's Tart-Deco. i actually just had a run in with a girl in the elevator about how amazing this color is. definitely try it out!

You've heard this saying before. And while surveying and sorting through my bedroom, I realized how much blank wall space I had been maintaining! However, every other surface is elegantly cluttered and my closets are packed tightly {with over-spill and surplus occupying my car. oh. AND my entire apartment at school}.

I figured, I might as well utilize this blank canvas. My walls are dark cerulean blue; a dramatic backdrop. With the help of some colorful tops, upholstery tacks, and the right placement, I have myself a new wall treatment: displaying my favorite thing-clothes.

I have loads of other ideas to fill in this big blue canvas, but that's for another day. Have a lovely day, my friends!

Sometimes weeks go by so fast that I have trouble thinking back to Monday. I have a pretty good memory, but have always used photography to support the dates, details, and data I collect during the days. At the end of the week, it's nice to look back through my pictures; I especially like noticing patterns of what I've snapped.

I also like the free interpretation of just posting photos without captions: allowing the viewer to decipher their meaning as they wish.

Summer typically recycles some stand-by {read: expected }trends. Nautical navy stripes, neon bright prints, and safari-like textures and details always seem to hold a place in the fashion heart of summer. However, I can't help but gravitate toward the neutral, monochromatic palette of pale gray with muted gold. Especially after finding these goodies!

forgotten fendi.

As an avid thrifter, aspiring vintage collector, and certified bag lady, I had loads of purses, clutches, totes, and un-categorized leather goods that often go forgotten.

With the [limited] free time I have, I've been rummaging through my collection, only to uncover bits of treasure. For instance, this slightly beat-up Fendi pouch. Authentic? I'm unsure. Regardless? I love it.

To be realistic, it can't hold much. My Blackberry, a MAC powder compact, and some lip balm, sure--but certainly not my massive wallet or the mandatory collection of digital cameras my days usually involve. But, it'd be perfect to act as an assistant to bigger, large-and-in-charge bags.

Being a devoted cupcakes and cashmere reader, I was thrilled to hear that Emily, the femininely fashionable and sugar sweet blogger, had landed a unique opportunity to design a blog-inspired Coach bag (along with three other bloggerinas: Karla, Krystal, and Kelly).

Even more exciting? A showcase event was being hosted by Coach at their Madison Avenue flagship store, in the fashion bloggers' honor! How could I not attend? It was the perfect mix of real life fashion and digital blogging.

The event was nothing short of fabulous, as expected. With white-Coach-leather-apron clad waiters, champagne cocktails, and all of my fashion-blogging-icons, how could it not be? I felt honored to be in the presence of such talented, visionary women.

The lighting was dim, and I went without my dSLR, but I think the photos are still lovely. Check them out!

As much as I wish I could post more, I'm positively crunched for time! I've been staying in the city far past what my work hours require lately.
